Cackets Farm Livery Yard and Lynn Russell teamed up on Saturday 14th August to hold the Kent based Showing Masterclass.
The day commenced with an introduction into the showing world, the associations you need to belong to, the rules and regulations and the appropriate attire you need to wear for your chosen class.
This was followed by an individual conformation assessment of each horse by Lynn along with the best way to turnout the horse for the show ring. Lynn demonstrated how to plait, clip and trim each horse so that they would stand out in front of the judges.
The owners were then asked to ride their horses and judge each other on the horse’s paces and movement. This followed with tutoring from Lynn on individual displays and how to catch the judge’s eye.
After a barbeque lunch we moved on to the in-hand showing where the trot up and presentation of the horse is again crucial. Lynn used her vast knowledge and experience to improve each participant’s performance.
The day left everyone buzzing and high on information ready to use the winter to produce their horses for a successful season in 2011.
Cackets Farm Livery Yard is looking forward to hosting their next Showing Masterclass with Lynn Russell on Saturday 2nd October 2010.
