These training sessions offer you tuition in a  small group followed by a review and feedback discussion.


They are very economically priced and ideal for those of you whose time is limited.


Groups are split into Novice, Medium and Advanced. All three sessions run on the same day so you can book  to take part in as many of the sessions as you like.

The day will  run as follows:

10.00 am Group 1  Novice

For horses and ponies that have  no showing experience.

Before your lesson you will:

  • Have a general assessment and discuss your main areas of interest.

During your lesson you will:

  • Learn about the types of class most suitable for you
  • Get some useful tips on schooling your horse
  • Establish a way forward for you and your horse
  • Learn about forward planning for competition
  • Get a brief insight into conformation and presentation.

After your lesson you will:

  • Have the opportunity to review and discuss your performance. Tea and coffee will be available


11.30 am approx. Group 2  Medium

For horses and ponies that have been to a show already.

Before your lesson you will:

  • Have a general assessment and discuss your main areas of interest.

During your lesson you will:

  • Get a good understanding of tack and turnout
  • Get some useful tips on ring craft, including the correct use of the space available, the change of rein, and how to deal with other riders  in the ring.
  • Learn what the judge is looking for.
  • Get a brief insight into in-hand presentation, standing your horse up for the judge and the trot up.

After your lesson you will:

  • Have the opportunity to review and discuss your performance. Tea and coffee will be available


2.00 pm approx. Group 3  Advanced

For horses and ponies experienced in the show ring

You are welcome to bring your show outfit!

Before your lesson you will:

  • Have a general assessment and discuss your main areas of interest.

Your lesson will be a mock Show Class:

  • You will be asked to perform an individual show (required for all show hack classes and any show class where the judge does not ride)
  • The class will include the line up, in-hand presentation and presentation of rosettes.
  • You will get useful tips on working with a ring steward..
  • Great attention will be paid to the correct way of going.

After your lesson you will:

  • Have the opportunity to review and discuss your performance. Tea and coffee will be available
